About Me
I am a current freshman at Duke University planning to study Electrical and Computer Engineering with a double major in Computer Science. I also plan to pursue a concentration in Machine Learning. I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and some of my other passions include Astronomy, Game Development, and Skateboarding.
Name Pronunciation
My full name is pronounced "OAR-Land-Dough JAY-Cub TAR-Dee". Most of my family just calls me by my middle name Jacob, but I don't have a preference. Call me whatever floats your boat!
Current Courses
As of this semester, my classes are as follows:
- ECE 110L - Fundamentals of Electrical and Computer Engineering
- EGR 103L - Computational Methods in Engineering
- PHYSICS 151L - Introductory Mechanics
- MATH 112L - Laboratory Calculus II
Grand Challenges of Engineering
This is actually the first time I've heard about these grand challenges. Having looked over them, I can see why these are considered the next goals in technological advancement that will act as the catalyst for human evolution. In particular, I strongly associate with the following three challenges:
- Provide Access to Clean Water
- Make Solar Energy Economical
- Enhance Virtual Reality - Smarter Lenses: Newly launched mobile eye-test device could lead to prescription virtual-reality screens., Rob Matheson, MIT News, October 19th, 2015
