Juan Rodriguez-Benitez
Juan David Enrique Rodriguez-Benitez (born 3 November 1999) is a current undergraduate student at Duke University. He graduated from Franklin Academy High school in Wake Forest, NC before enrolling in the Pratt school of Engineering at Duke University with the intent of majoring in mechanical engineering, while maintaining a pre-health track.
Juan's interests include soccer as he is an avid FC Bayern Munich fan, admiring and delving into the inspiration behind architectural design, watching and following the high speed world of Formula 1, and traveling to strange and unique place whenever the opportunity arises. A fun fact about Juan is that he is trilingual being fluent in English, Spanish, and German.
Grand Challenges for Engineering
As a future Engineer, Juan seeks to find solutions to the Grand Challenges for Engineering. One article related to the Grand Challenges is: Nanowires May Boost Solar Cell Efficiency, Daniel Kane, 13 May 2008, accessed 21 September 2017 (Economical Solar Energy).
Matlab
Matlab has been an essential part of Juan's education as a mechanical engineer. His favorite Matlab demonstration involved 2-D and 3-D Graphs. It demonstrated to him the unique abilities Matlab has and the wide extent for which its functions can be used. Juan quoted this experience as follows: "To plug-in numbers and see them come together into a 3-D graph is truly a unique feeling."
