University Student
Joel Kelly is a current student in the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University. He is part of the Class of 2018, and his interests during his four years at Duke include Duke Engineering for Internation Development (DEID), club soccer, possibly ESG, and living with his fellow brilliant classmates (as well as many other things he will likely discover at some point).
Personal Life
Joel Kelly was born and raised in North Philadelphia, where he lived for all 18 years of his life before moving away to college. He loved growing up in Olney, even though his father told him from a young age he couldn't play for the Olney Eagles (neighborhood football team).
MATLAB Demonstrations
My Favorite
My favorite MATLAB demonstration had to be the 3-D drawing demonstration. The concept is to choose at least 3 points on an open plane, and from top to bottom down this plane is the axis of rotation. For every point A chosen, the computer will input a point B that is symmetrical to A. Then, when finished with clicking points for the figure, right-click with the mouse and the figure becomes three-dimensional by rotating around the line that is straight down the center of the plane. It is awesome to see how many combinations can be made and how they all look in three dimensions.
