About Me

I am an undergraduate student at Duke University in Durham, NC, aspiring to pursue Environmental Engineering as a major.

Life Before Duke

I was born and for the most part of my life also raised in Baltimore County, MD, the suburbs of Baltimore City. I attended high school at Western School of Technology and Environmental Science in Catonsville, MD, a magnet school where I specialized in the Environmental Science magnet.

Interests

Environmental issues that I would like to work on include decreasing the dependence on fossil fuels and increasing dependence on renewable energy sources, as well as providing access to potable water to those who lack such a resource.

Grand Challenges for Engineering

A Grand Challenge for Engineering that greatly interests me is making solar energy economical. Work is already being done in order to make this challenge feasible, such as at Arizona State University's Solar Power Laboratory[1].

Matlab

My favorite Matlab demonstration was the World Traveler 3-D Globe demonstration. The amount of work that went into creating this application seems astounding- not only did the producer(s) succeed in topographically plotting the Earth's surface, but they made it possible to input real locations in the world, output locations, and then chart and trace a hypothetical flight from the first place to another, all in a 3-D environment.
