My name is Quin Thompson and I am a freshman ECE major at Duke University. I am on the Club Sailing Team at Duke and have sailed for most my life. Some of my other interests include football (#footballschool), weightlifting, and exploring the nightlife of Durham, North Carolina. I am planning on doing a double major with Computer Science, and I hope to eventually get a job in the field.

Matlab Demo

My favorite demonstration in the Matlab help menu was the one about 3-D plots. The different methods of coloring or shading the peaks and valleys of the three-dimensional graph intrigue me, and I think the applications for such a tool are endless. The contour option for the graph gives an interesting bird's-eye view in the same way that a cartographer designs maps. All of the options for three-dimensional graphing have a very specific but necessary purpose, and I could see myself using this feature in the future.
