About Bihan Zhuang
I am a member of Duke University Class of 2019, in the Pratt School of Engineering. I come from Xiamen, a beautiful city on the coast of southeastern China. My current habitat is Dorm Jarvis on East Campus.
Current Courses
As a first year engineering student with interested in BME, I am taking the following classes this semester:
- EGR103
- Chem101
- Math212
- Writing101 Citizen Science
- Physedu101 Cardio Conditioning
I am thinking about the pre-med track but also might pursue a finance minor. During the first two weeks of my college career, I have been exploring the opportunities on campus and am truly amazed. Some student clubs stood out to me, such as Design for America, Engineering World Health and IEEE. I hope to join some of them for a chance to learn from upperclassmen and start designing my own projects. One of the biggest reason I choose engineering is that I will be able to turn knowledge into concrete things and help other people in life.
Also, an important thing for me in college is to stay healthy and fit.

Matlab Demonstration
My favorite Matlab demonstration is 3-D plots. Using the correct syntax (like meshgrid and surf commands) creates colorful 3-D plots. I find this really interesting because recently I am learning the exact same thing in Math 212: functions with multiple variables. Being able to plot 3-D plots in Matlab could be useful for my math study since the graphs will help me visualize things better.
