About Me

I am a freshman studying Mechanical Engineering at Pratt. I am originally from Westchester, NY. I really enjoy anything to do with physicians and being outdoors, including fishing and hiking.

Name Pronunciation

Although it is not too hard of a name, the spelling still trips some people up. "Winslow Grifen", as I pronounce it, is "WIN-slow GRiff-en".

Current Courses and Future Track

Having just switched to Pratt, I am currently taking all the introductory engineering courses, including EGR 101, EGR 103, and EGR 121. Once I have caught up to my peers, I plan on adding either an Architecture certificate or a Physics minor to my repertoire.

Grand Challenges for Engineering

One of the Grand Challenges for Engineering in the modern era is making nuclear fusion possible and practical. Research on this topic has been happening for a long time, but only recently has significant progress emerged. Below is an article featured in National Geographic about the recent triumphs in nuclear fusion research:

Scientists achieve a breakthrough in nuclear fusion. Here's what it means., Micheal Greshko, National Geographic Magazine, Published 13 December 2022, Accessed 19 February 2023 (Provide Energy from Fusion)
