MATLAB Demonstrations:

My favorite MATLAB Demonstration, Visualizing Sound, was not a required one, but rather one I selected because it looked interesting. I do a lot of sound editing on my computer at home to mix different tracks together or combine different versions of the same song that I like, and I had no idea that you could write code in MATLAB that could process a sound file in both a visual and audible manner. I really liked how you could view the sound in a variety of different ways - as a function of frequency and time, average power in the signal compared to frequency and as a spectrogram. The only issue I ran into in this demo was that when I actually tried to play the sound, the MATLAB command window stated an error that it couldn't open the player. I don't know if there was an issue in the code (which doesn't make sense considering it's a demo) or if I just could not run it remotely from my computer, but I wish that it could have worked so that I could 'see' and hear the sound at the same time.
