MATLAB Demonstration - Viewing the Penny

After looking at the different examples of how you can use MATLAB, my favorite demonstration was "Viewing the Penny." This demonstration basically mapped the different elevations of the surface of a penny and graphed it. It was very interesting to see how MATLAB was able to use the information of the penny to actually map it. This interested me because it can have many different applications because it is able to graph almost any object, which allows us to analyze the objects in different ways. I was not sure of the limits of MATLAB, but this demonstration definitely showed me that the limit of what can be done is very far. The shading also was interesting because it made the penny look more realistic. With these tools in MATLAB we are able to beyond just the abstract graphs and model many real life objects.
