About Me

I am currently an undergraduate pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. I also enjoy German and am contemplating studying abroad in Berlin through a special engineering program. Outside of school, I enjoy playing tennis, cooking, eating, and relaxing with friends.

Name Pronounciation

My name, Lucy Dawson, is pronounced fairly logically, at least for an English speaker. Lucy sounds like LOO-see, kind of like if you were personifying a loo in England and said "The loo sees many hydrated travelers everyday." My family name, Dawson, sounds like DAH-suhn.

Favorite MATLAB Demo

Of the many neat MATLAB Demos, I would have to say that the Traveling Salesman demo is my favorite. It is so cool how you can see MATLAB go through different combinations until it recognizes that it has a path that is the shortest possible route. And it is amazing how fast it does all of this. Not to mention the coding that created the user interface's design and buttons, the latter which actually work. Also, the program has application in 'the real world', where businesses would want workers to travel the minimum amount for cost and time reasons.
