About Me

I am a student at Duke University within the Pratt School of Engineering. I'm currently involved with Duke Swing, Outing Club, and Jewish Life at Duke.

Name Pronunciation

My given name "Madison Jaffrey" is pronounced like "Mad-eh-son Jah-free". I don't go by nicknames unless you're really close to me so please refrain from calling me "Maddie", "Mads", "MJ" etc.

Current Class Schedule

Focus Classes

  • EGR 95FS: Sustainable Energy Project: Engineering Design and Communication
    • Equivalent to EGR 101
  • EGR 95FS: Emerging Materials and Technologies for Energy Future
  • Focus 195FS: Special Topics in Focus

Other Courses

  • EGR 103: Computational Methods in Engineering
  • MATH 218: Matrices and Vectors

Projects

Currently, I'm working on a semester project with a team of other first year Duke students in my Engineering Design and Communication class. It involves cute dogs so you should be invested (Stay tuned for updates!).

A previous project I completed with my partner Bryce Fitzpatrick was an adaptable spoon for teens with Arthrogryposis. Click here to watch a video of our project.

Grand Challenges for Engineering Articles

I've always thought that one of the more important challenges of the 14 Grand Challenges for Engineering was providing access to clean water. Below is an article about how it's an issue in the US.
