About Me

I am currently a class of 2021 engineering student looking to double major in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science. I'm still open to a lot of different career paths and options after finishing my four years at Duke's Pratt School of Engineering.

Name Pronunciation

My name, David Liu, is pronounced as DAY-vid LOO.

Current Courses

I'm currently taking EGR 103, CS 201, Math 212, and Writing 101.

Activities

I'm currently involved in a couple activities. I am a member of both Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Duke University Math Union (DUMU).

Grand Challenge Article (Homework 1)

Use of brain-computer interface, virtual avatar could help people with gait disabilities, Jeannie Kever, ScienceDaily, 23 August 2017, accessed 20 September 2017 (Enhance virtual reality)

Favorite MATLAB Demonstration (Homework 2)

My favorite MATLAB Demonstration is "Earth's Topography". I love how the demonstration goes step-by-step, from the contour plot to the 2D Image Plot and finally to the 3D plot, in order to describe how to start with a data file (topo.mat) and end up with a 3D representation of the globe. Another feature about the demonstration I love is that because they give three different ways to represent Earth's Topography, I have the ability to use any of the options. If only a 2D Image is necessary, I can use that. If a Contour Plot is required, I have the background for that. If I need the 3D Plot, I have the ability to create that as well. Finally, I like how they give example images along with the code so that I can check to see if I coded Earth's Topography correctly in each of the 3 scenarios.
