About Me

My name is Marcus Layher, and I am a freshman living in Southgate. I plan on double majoring in BME and economics, and outside of academics I am interested in getting involved in Outing Club.

Name Pronunciation

I pronounce my name, "Marcus Layher," as "MARK-iss LAY-er." However, my last name has German roots and I have been told that the proper way to pronounce it is similar to the English word "liar."

Current Courses

I am currently enrolled in 4.5 courses:EGR103, Math212, Econ 201, Chem201, and a mixed martial arts PE course.

Grand Challenges

Grand Challenges Article: Managing the Nitrogen Cycle [1], John Cartwright, University of Arkansas System, created 31 May 2013, accessed 15 September 2013

MATLAB Demonstrations

My favorite demonstration was the World Traveler 3-D Globe. This demonstration allowed to user to input two cities and returned the distance as well as an animation of the flight path between the two. This was my favorite demonstration because it showcased MATLAB's ability to use graphics and animation to communicate information more clearly.
