Grand Challenge
This link describes one way engineers are addressing one challenge faced by our general society and described by the National Academy of Engineering as an issue engineers should try to solve: making solar power more economically feasible.

So I was looking at some Matlab demonstrations in its own Help section, and came across some cool ones. My fave was the "Functions of Complex Variables" demo under the Graphics category of demonstrations. I liked that it was in slideshow form because it gives me insight on cool applications of code. I also loved that it had colorful pictures like:
Who doesn't like colorful pics?
I must say the "Vibrating Logo" demo was a close second though.
