About Me

Kristianna Elbert (Kris Elbert, born late April, but will accept gifts any day of the year) is a student at the Pratt School of Engineering set to graduate in 2019. I'm from New Jersey. My mother is an engineer, my father is a lawyer, my brother is a treasure, but I am my cat's favorite.

Future Plans

I hope to double-major in ECE and Computer Science. I am also interested in Public Policy and Arabic studies.

Grand Challenges for Engineering

MATLAB Demonstrations

My favorite MATLAB tutorial is about the indexing command because it introduced me to the literal magic() of MATLAB and made it acceptable to use the words "magic square" in an academic context. The rest of the section is also very informative and useful, but the idea that MATLAB does magic is the highlight.

The Matrix Manipulation tutorial is great because it utilizes the magic function again, the mere mention of which reminds me there is something good in the world.

I also enjoyed the Game of Life demo because during one run they all died very quickly, and it reminded me that the universe is a chaotic, unfeeling place, portions of which we can model! Which is simultaneously humbling and impressive. Isn't MATLAB neat?
