About Me

I am a freshman in the Class of 2019 here at Duke University. I am in the Pratt School of Engineering.

Name Pronunciation

My name, David Tran, is pronounced how similar to how it looks, but a clearer explanation is "Day-vid Chran."

MATLAB Demonstrations

My favorite demonstration from MATLAB was the Viewing a Penny because it showed how to convert a contour plot into a pseudocolor plot with brightness proportional to the Laplacian of the height, meaning that a cell is bright if it has a height greater than the average of its four neighbors and dark if its height is lower than the average of its four neighbors. This process was relatively easy to grasp, which appealed to me more than the other demos did.
