Favorite Demo

My favorite MatLAB demonstration is the Earth's Topography Demo. It made me realize that you can plot more things than you would think just by thinking about it in a way MatLAB can understand. For example, I never realized that the outlines of the continents would have zero elevation, and if you want to draw this, you can just tell MatLAB to plot the points at which this is true. Also, the distinction between elevations greater than zero and higher than zero for the color scheme is very clever. Finally, the lighting produced on the spherical Earth is a really cool, specific customization that enhances the 3D perspective.
