My favorite demo was the ''Viewing the Penny'' demo on MATLAB.  The idea that one can create a 3D graphical representation of currency (and that the government uses said representation to mold our currency) is fascinating, but more so due to the fact that MATLAB is also able to color the penny, show you the topographical features of the penny, and use a lighting model to realistically shade the penny.  It is real-life applications of MATLAB like this one that make engineering fun and worthwhile.

Favorite Demo

My favorite demo was the Viewing the Penny demo on MATLAB. The idea that one can create a 3D graphical representation of currency (and that the government uses said representation to mold our currency) is fascinating, but more so due to the fact that MATLAB is also able to color the penny, show you the topographical features of the penny, and use a lighting model to realistically shade the penny. It is real-life applications of MATLAB like this one that make engineering fun and worthwhile.
