My favorite demonstration in the Matlab help documentation was the Earth's Topography where sample code is given for creating a topographical map of Earth's surface from loaded data. I thought it was really cool that Matlab has the power to do more complex graphing and plotting. It shows how useful Matlab can be in any field as a way to show data in cool graphs that can make a presentation or paper look professional.

About Me

Hi, my name is Kevin Wang and I'm a freshman at Duke University doing this for a homework assignment. I'm from Cary, North Carolina about 30 minuets drive away and went to NCSSM, a short walk North of Duke. My intended major, although not set in stone yet, is most likely going to be BME, possibly as pre-med.

Interests

I currently am playing piano with private lessons here at Duke as a hobby, nothing too serious, but to me it's fun and relaxing! I also played some recreational sports for fun including soccer, ping-pong, and badminton. I have also dabbled in archery at high school and so am looking for ways to continue that at duke. One thing I am not interested in unfortunately is computer science. I took the class in high school, but never liked it at all and thought it to be extremely tedious, hence my BME major in an attempt to get more science and less coding.

Engineering Grand Challenge HW1

To complete the HW assignment, a link regarding an Engineering World challenge, nuclear fusion, is put below. Fusion as an Energy Source: Challenges and Opportunities, W J Nuttall, Institute of Physics, September 2008, accessed 13 September 2015 (Energy from fusion). This site provides a really in depth overview of the pros and cons of nuclear fusion as an energy source and seems to have many interesting points that I wish I had to time to read thoroughly.

Matlab Demonstrations HW2

I thought it was really cool that Matlab has the power to do more complex graphing and plotting. It shows how useful Matlab can be in any field as a way to show data in cool graphs that can make a presentation or paper look professional.
