My name is Shihab Osman Malik and I am freshman at Duke Univeristy (Class of 2018!). Although born in Arizona, I originally come from Sudan and have spent the vast majority of my life there. I earned my IB Diploma from Khartoum International Community School (KICS), which I attended for the majority of my scholastic career. I am very passionate about both playing and watching sport, in particular Football (Its called Football, not Soccer). I am looking forward to a fruitful and exciting year at Duke where I can further develop my interests, excel academically, challenge myself beyond my comfort zone and participate in a variety of different activities.

Although not the most fascinating, my favorite demonstration was the 2-D plots (Graphics), mainly because of the ease in which 2-D plots can be created on Matlab. During the IB diploma and the years preceding, I had to use much more primitive and time consuming programs to produce basic 2-D graphs I needed for various assignments. However, inputting and plotting various variables using Matlab is clearly very simplistic and user friendly, which is why this particular demonstration stood out to me personally.
