About Me
My name is Broderick Turner (pronounced either BRAH-drick or BROAD-er-ick TURN-er), and I am a freshman student in the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University. I am from Eufaula, Alabama, a small city that I am sure you have never heard of. My current goal is to obtain a major in Biomedical Engineering with a possible minor in either Psychology or Spanish.
Hobbies
In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, spending time with family, and listening to music. I also enjoy playing and watching sports, my favorite of which being basketball. During the course of my education at Duke, I am hoping to develop a strong liking for studying and working, which would make obtaining my degree much easier and more enjoyable.
Musical Interests
Musically, I will listen to anything once. My favorite genre would be Rap & Hip-Hop, where some of my favorite artists are Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Blu, Kendrick Lamar, OutKast, XV, Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill, and J. Cole. I also enjoy R&B, folk, rock, pop, and electronic music. Basically, I like anything that sounds good. I have not, however, been able to fully enjoy the genres of country and metal, but maybe one day I will develop an ear for it.
Interesting Facts
- During the course of my entire education, I have never missed a day of school (field trips not counting as missing school).
- I can wiggle my left year, and at moments of peak brain activity, my right ear can move a little bit also.
- I have twelve aunts and uncles, but I only have one sister. I guess my parents did not enjoy having so many siblings around so they kept me from living through the same conditions...that is just me speculating though.
- I visited zero campuses during the time of college applications. Fortunately, Duke turned out to be great once I first stepped on campus during Orientation Week.
Matlab Demonstration
My favorite demonstration was the Minesweeper demonstration. It is refreshing to see that Matlab is not only capable of being used for mathematical purposes, but also is capable of creating games that run fluently. Plus, my friends back at home are addicted to Minesweeper, so I know it is a demonstration that they too would enjoy.
