The "Viewing a Penny" Demo contains the measurements of the depth of the mold used to mint a U. S. penny, sampled on a 128-by-128 grid.  This demo is my favorite because it gives an interesting example of how matlab can be used in our everyday lives.  A contour plot is made for a penny in matlab and then the product is made by carving the material with the dimensions describing in the matlab program.
